Nijmegen is a city situated in the province of Gelderland near the east border of the Netherlands with Germany. It is claimed to be the oldest city in the Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 2005 (The other competent for this title is the city of Maastricht in the south of the country near the Belgian border).
